Answers to many questions can be found at www.KatahdinFieldHockey.com  "PARENT FAQ's" page!!

Our age groups are divided based on the National USFHA age groups.  The "u" in each stands for "under"....  and the breakpoint is December 31st / January 1st.  That means that the athlete's birth year is what determines their age group for the coming season/year, NOT their school grade.  The cutoff means that your age as of December 31st is what determines your age group for the following year.  For example, a girl who turns 14 on December 31st will try out for one of the u16 teams.  If her friend turns 14 on January 1st (just the day after), she will join the u14 team.  It's always unfortunate for those with birthdays just before the cutoff, but that is the case each year.  This cutoff is determined by US Field Hockey.  ME FH Club (Katahdin) boasts elite travel teams across the age groups, and has plans to add u10 to the Club, so literally has something for everyone!!

When filling out the registration for 2015 season, this should help you select your age group....
2006 & younger - u10
2004 & 2005- u12
2002 & 2003 - u14
2000 & 2001 - u16
1999 & older - u19
